Lanterns, also known as flower lanterns, is a popular traditional Chinese folk arts and crafts as New Year celebration. Zigong Lantern Festival is very famous.It can date back to the Tang618-907 and Song 960-1279 dynasties. New Year Lantern Festival has a thousands years history. Zigong Lantern Festival, enriching the Chinese lamps culture, won a reputation of`best in the world light`. Every year, the festival is showcasing many sets of lanterns in various shapes, including animals,e.g. pandas ,elephants, birds, dragons,many plants, e.g. lotus and pavilions,and so on. Unlike occidental light shows which feature tungsten bulbs, florescent tubes, leds and even laser beams, oriental light shows still stick to their traditional concepts of using paper and fabric to shape up the various objects of fame and fortune. The only change is from traditional lighting source of wax candles to electrical bulbs, tubes and leds inside these lanterns.
