The Alvardo Lake Bridge.
Built in 1889 by Ernest Ransome, San Francisco`s Alvardo Lake Bridge in golden Gate Park was the first bridge in America to use reinforced concrete. Owing to the fact that this one bridge is one of the few reinforced structures to have survived the 1906 earthquake is what ultimately show the importance of it.
