Peter Witt was the Cleveland, Ohio Railway Commissioner who helped design this car. His big concept was, by having the passengers enter through the front door and exit through the center, and pay as they move toward the middle, where the conductor was, it would better help to move along the passenger flow. Originally, 15 U.S. cities ran this car, but, interestingly, not San Francisco. This particular one was built in 1928, for service in Milan, Italy.
