Sargocentron caudimaculatum, theÃÂ silverspot squirrelfish, is aÃÂ reef-associatedÃÂ member of theÃÂ familyÃÂ Holocentridae. It is native to theÃÂ IndianÃÂ andÃÂ PacificÃÂ Oceans fromÃÂ East AfricaÃÂ toÃÂ JapanÃÂ and northernÃÂ AustraliaÃÂ and as far east as theÃÂ Marshall Islands. It lives near reefs, but can also be found inÃÂ lagoonsÃÂ and drop-offs at depths between 2 and 40 metres 6.6 and 131.2ÃÂ ft. It is aÃÂ nocturnalÃÂ predator, feeding primarily onÃÂ crabsÃÂ andÃÂ shrimps.
