The collegiate church of Sant`Anna , in Cagliari , is the main parish church in the Stampace district. The monumental temple, dedicated to Saint Anne , rises in the upper part of the historical district, in via Azuni. Its construction began at the end of the eighteenth century in Baroque style, to replace a former church, of modest size, dating back to the thirteenth century . Severely damaged in 1943 during the Second World War , due to the bombing, it was rebuilt in the post-war period .The church is linked to a famous way of saying cagliaritano, Sa fabbrica de Sant`Anna `The construction of Sant`Anna`, used sarcastically to label something interminable, comparing it to the long and troubled construction story of the parish of Stampace.
