The Caucasus or Caucasia is a region located at the border of Europe and Asia, situated between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea and occupied by Russia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia. The Caucasus Mountains include the Greater Caucasus mountain range, which acts as a natural barrier separating Eastern Europe from Western Asia. Europe`s highest mountain, Mount Elbrus, at 5,642 metres is located in the west part of the Greater Caucasus mountain range. Shahdag National Park is a national park of Azerbaijan. It was established on an area of 115,900 hectares 1,159 km2. It is located in northern Azerbaijan, close to the border with Russia at the Greater Caucasus Mountains.
