California poppy, Eschaholzia california, 2.
This plant does very well in the temperate areas, which goes from the southern US down to Mexico. Coming in a variety of colors, it is a great ornamental plant, with the bright orange one being the official plant for the state of California since 1903. Both the leaves and seeds can be used in foods.
