Theàleavesàare large, very unequal at the base, 7ââ¬â19àcm & x28;2à3âÂâ4ââ¬â7à1âÂâ2àin& x29; long and 6ââ¬â14àcm & x28;2à1âÂâ4ââ¬â5à1âÂâ2àin& x29; broad, with a finely toothed margin; they are light green and smooth above, and silvery downy beneath.Some leaves on specimens identified asàT. mexicanaàin English arboreta are huge, 30àcm & x28;0.98àft& x29; long,as exemplified by the specimen at theàVentnor Botanic Garden. Theàflowers, larger than those ofàT. americana, are produced in clusters of 10ââ¬â24 together.
