Tropaeolum majus red flower brazilian
It is a medicinal flower with a characteristic aroma and spicy taste. It is an essential oil, rich in benzyl thiocyanate and glucotropeolin, to which antibiotic effects are attributed. It is used in traditional medicine in cases of urinary tract infections, nephritis and influenza. The leaves are also rich in ascorbic acid, isoquercitrin and helenina, being used macerated in the treatment of hematomas.
