Somma Lombardo or simply Somma is a town in the Po valley, province of Varese, Italy. The Basilica of S. Agnese 1665 AD was built on the previous fifteenth century church, the building is a manifestation of Baroque Lombard architecture and houses inside valuable paintings and frescos among the most representative of the seventeenth-century artistic culture. Among the various artifacts preserved there are also some artifacts belonging to the fifteenth century church baptistery and stone medallions. To visit in Somma: the Visconti Castle of San Vito, one of the best preserved in Italy, the Ticino Park with the Panperduto dam a few kilometers from the town, the shrine of the Madonna della Ghianda.
