Pictured is a sculpture of an eagle with a large snake in it`s talons. It is on a rooftop in the Melk Abbey above the town of Melk, Lower Austria. The Benedictine abbey is on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Danube River and the adjoining Wachau Valley. It was founded in 1089. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
