West SedgemoorÃÂ orÃÂ West Sedge MoorÃÂ & x28;grid referenceÃÂ ST361258& x29; is an area of theÃÂ Somerset Levels, inÃÂ Somerset, England, around 8 miles & x28;13 km& x29; east ofÃÂ Taunton, which approximately coincides with the West SedgemoorÃÂ biological Site of Special Scientific Interest, a 1,016ÃÂ hectareÃÂ & x28;3.9 sq miles& x29; siteÃÂ notified as an SSSIÃÂ in 1983. It is a flat, low-lying area & x28;approx. 5 metres above sea level& x29; of fields and meadows separated by water-filledÃÂ rhynesÃÂ and ditches. It is subject to controlled flooding in winter. It is drained by theÃÂ River Parrett.
