Ornithological reserve .. Vransko jezero .. Croatia

Vransko Lake is the largest natural lake in Croatia. This lake is actually a karsty field filled with water and a rare example of cryptodepression. Up to now, there are about 235 species of birds in the park, of which 102 are nesting birds mostly swampfish, while the rest of the lake is a resting place during a relocation or wintering. According to estimates, there are between 20,000 and 200,000 birds living daily in the wilderness park. [3] The park`s specialty is the richness of fish and the developed sport fishing tourism. The dominant feature of the Park is a special ornithological reserve, almost untouched natural habitats of waterfowl, a rare swamp system, great biodiversity, exceptional scientific and ecological values.
