Ferns are plants with a different vein than limestone in the area of true leaves. They differ from seed plants including gymnosperms and angiosperms in the mode of reproduction due to the absence of flowers and seeds. Like other vascular plants, they have a life cycle referred to as alternating generations, characterized by a diploid spore phase and a single haploid gamete, but different from plants gymnosperms and angiosperms in the gamete of ferns are a free-living organism.
