Medieval Almshouses Mortonhampstead Devon

The almshouses were converted into the eight almshouses in1637 from the medieval cob buildings. It is of national importance with the survival of the smoke-blackened face pegged jointed cruck roof. Mortonhampstead was granted its market charter by King John in 1207. It sits almost in the middle of the county on Dartmoor
