Pico de Teide is currently an inactive stratovolcano, located on Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands. The name Teide comes from the language of the original inhabitants of the island and means hellish mountain. With a height of 3,718 meters, it is the highest mountain in the Atlantic and Spain, and the third largest volcano on Earth.
