Large Mouth Bass - Vortex Springs

A Largemouth Bass, Micropterus salmoides, floats motionless with hydrilla plants as a back drop under the scuba diving entry platform at Vortex Springs in Florida. Adults consume smaller fish (bluegill), crawfish (crayfish), frogs, snakes, salamanders, bats and even small water birds, mammals, and baby alligators.
