Pitti Palace Built from 1458 by Brunelleschi for the Pitti family. Bought a century later by Cosme I who will enlarge it and add the gardens. It served as residence for the Medici and their successors, the great dukes of Lorraine, from 1560 to 1859. Then remains of the royal family from 1865 to 1919. Today, it houses the royal apartments and several museums.
