The Cathedral of St. Vitus, Wenceslas and Adalbert and Virgin Mary is the most important Czech Roman Catholic church and the dominant of Prague Castle. The southern tower of the cathedral is the third highest church tower in the Czech Republic with a height of 96.6 m.nSince the tenth century, the St. Vitus Church has been the seat of the Bishop of the Prague Diocese, which was promoted to the Archdiocese in 1344. On this occasion, the construction of a three-nave Gothic cathedral with three towers was commenced, but interrupted by the Hussite wars. In spite of the efforts to complete the building and additions the top of the southern tower, the western part with a nave and a two-tower facade was completed only after five hundred years, since 1873. The cathedral includes a number of important artistic monuments from various centuries, including the period of completion, the most important are works from the Gothic construction of the cathedral
