Wistman`s Wood Dartmoor England
Remote high altitude woodland on the West dart river consisting of pedunculate oak. Remains of circa 7000 BC forest. Ages range from 150-500 years old. Trees covered with epephytic lichen. Conforms to W17a Quercus petraea-Betula pubescens-Dicranum majus woodland. Isothecium myosuroides-Diplophyllium albicans sub-community.
