Statue of St. Jerome 340 - 420, holding in his left hand a bishop`s cradle and in his right a written scroll. He is known for the first translation of the Bible into Latin, also called `Vulgate`, used over a millennium in the Catholic Church. The lion represented under his feet refers to the legend that, during his sojourn in the desert, he drew a thorn from the paw of a lion. Statue of the Black Church in Brasov.
