Old wooden ferry in front of a volcano, Indonesia
A sunset on Lembata island in Solor archipelago, East Indonesia with the smoking cone of IIi Api (1463 m), near the main town of Lewoleba. In front, a destroyed boat and an old wooden ferry waiting for renovation. Transport between remote Indonesian Islands is dominated by small wooden ferries. Many of them are very old and require renovation, some of them sink every year causing tens of deaths. Trips by these ferries are long and uncomfortable, people travel between their cargo, animals and motorbikes.
