On the banks of the Kennet River and at the foot of the rolling hills of Marlborough we find the largest stone circle in Europe. It is a structure dated to the Neolithic, consisting of a circular embankment of 425 m in diameter, 1.3 km in circumference and 6 m high, whose walls are built with Cretaceous blocks extracted from inside a 10 m deep circumscribed moat.
