Padua is a city in the Veneto region, known for Giotto`s frescoes in the Scrovegni Chapel, from 1303-05, and for the large 13th century Basilica of Sant`Antonio. The basilica, characterized by Byzantine-style domes and valuable works of art, houses the tomb of the saint to whom it is named. The University of Padua was founded in 1222.
