The Koumaria village has little history, less than a century. The village was built in 1881 by the inhabitants of the old Smolikas Paleochori there is today the church of Agia Paraskevi, who for reasons that remain undetermined began to leave the village. They went up north so they built the Koumaria. During the civil war burned the village and its inhabitants went to Trikala and returned in 1950. During the 1960s begins migration and the last residents left permanently in 1979.
