A Dawn Redwood Tree in Autumn

Dawn Redwoods trees were thought to be extinct until the 1940`s when they were discovered thriving in Szechuan China. Dawn Redwood seeds were brought over from China by Harvard University scientists and the wealthy Long Islanders on its infamous gold coast were given seeds to plant. This tree resides at an arboretum in Nassau County. The photo was taken in Autumn when the Dawn Redwood loses its delicate leaves. Metasequoia glyptostroboides
