Emerging Teasel Flower Head - Dipsacus - In Morning Sunlight. Dipsacus is a Genus of Plants known commonly as Teasel, Teazel, or Teazle. It is a native plant found growing in Europe,, Asia and Africa. The dried flower heads having been used to `tease` out the nap of various woolen cloths. Seeds from this plant are an integral food source for wintering birds, being cultivated in gardens and in Nature reserves to support growing and fragile bird populations. Surviving in a wide range of habitats from grassland to wasteland. Visited by bees when in flower and by birds such as Goldfinch when gone to seed.
