Sandy Island Beach sand dune restoration fence
After sand was returned to the foredune, volunteers installed snow fencing and planted beach grasses. The fences catch wind blown sand, and beach grass roots spread out to stabilize the southern dunes Of Sandy Island, Lake Ontario, NYS. Nine Mile Nuclear plant visible in background.
