Long live cliff is the cliff at the northernmost tip of Saipan. In 1944, the US army attacked the Japanese base on the Mariana Islands. The Japanese army retreated to the northern end of the island and jumped off the cliff in order to escape the fate of being captured. The Japanese erected a Guanyin statue to comfort the spirit tower next to the Long live cliff, and also erected a peace monument at the highest point of the cliff. Every year, many Japanese people especially visit these two places to worship.
