Johanniskloster and pieta in German Stralsund
The restored Johanniskloster, a ruined former Franciscan monastery, is a peaceful corner of the german Stralsund town. In the front a bronze statue of a modern designed pieta, an enlarged copy of Barlach`s original of 1932. The PietÃÂ Italian for pity is a subject in Christian art depicting the Virgin Mary cradling the dead body of Jesus.
