Pictured is Diego, a giant Galapagos tortoise at the Charles Darwin Research Center located in Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island in the Galapagos off Ecuador. The 100 year-old tortoise was selected to take part in a breeding program on Santa Cruz island about 50 years ago, when his species, Chelonoidis hoodensis was facing extinction. Diego became famous for his sex drive, fathering hundreds of progeny, about 800 by some estimates.
