The old Amoreira Aqueduct near Elvas, Portugal
One of the outstanding tourist sights of Elvas is the Amoreira Aqueduct from 1498. With a total extension of around 8 km, this construction has 843 arches in up to five tiers, with some of its towers rising above 30 metres.
