Pawnee National Grassland and Pawnee Buttes
Pawnee National Grassland is a United States National Grassland located in northeastern Colorado on the Colorado Eastern Plains. The grass land is located in the South Platte River basin in remote Weld County. The area is rich in history and wildlife. The Pawnee Buttes are two prominent buttes in northeastern Colorado. A predominant geologic feature within the Pawnee National Grassland, the Buttes rise 300 feet above the prairie. A 1.5 mile hiking trail leads hikers to the west Butte. The east Butte is located on private land.
