Also known as the Taktsang Palphug Monastery, Tiger`s Nest is a sacred Vajrayana Himalayan Buddhist site located 10km to the north of Paro. The monastery is built around the `Taktsang Senge Samdup` cave, where custom holds that Buddhist master Guru Rinpoche Padmasambhava meditated in the 8th century. The Snow Lion Cave, or `Singye Pelphu Lhakhang`, is associated with Guru Rinpoche’s consort, Yeshe Tsogyal.
