The marble quarry has been exploited since the 6th century BC, and the marble was sold throughout the eastern Mediterranean, from Thessaloniki, Delphi, Ostia, Rome, Ephesus, Antioch to Libya. The quarry is only a few minutes from the beach and the road can be traveled on a beautiful path along the shore.
