View of Punakha Dzong fort, the administrative center of Punakha District and the Mo Chhu River, Bhutan
Also known as `Pungthang Dewa chhenbi Phodrang` `The Palace of Great or Bliss`, the fort was constructed in 1637ââ¬â38 & is the second oldest & second-largest dzong in Bhutan. It was the administrative center & the seat of the Government until 1955 when the capital was moved to Thimphu. It also houses sacred relics of the southern Drukpa Lineage of the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism.
