Antique charm of old Dubrovnik. The Franciscan Monastery of the Little Brothers
The Franciscan Monastery of the Little Brothers is located within the historic center of Dubrovnik. It is generally held to have been there since 1317. Prior to that, there was also the Franciscan monastery of St. Thomas in Pile, which had to be demolished due to the danger of siege by the enemy. The Franciscans then moved within the walls. At their new residence, they certainly continued to work as pharmacists, which they had been doing until then. The Franciscan church on the sawmills was not demolished at the same time as the monastery. It remained there until 1463, when it was destroyed due to the danger of the Turkish siege.
