The Pied billed grebe, Podilymbus podiceps, is found throughout the Americas, and is now the last of the grebes left in the Americas. They feed on a common variety of aquatic animal, and sometimes plant life. When eating crustaceans, they are known to also eat their own feathers, to prevent injury.
