Scarp Island , Outer Hebrides Scotland
Scarp is an uninhabited island, west of Hushinish on Harris, once inhabited the island was the scene of unsuccessful experiments with rocket mail. Crofting was the way of life on the island sheep and dairy rearing and fishing, principally lobster. By 1971 the last permanent inhabitant has moved to Harris.
