War monument and belfry in Almeida, Portugal
The Nuns Convent of Our Lady of Loreto and the belfry was built in the 16th century. As for the Church of Our Lady of Light, it was remodeled in the first half of the 19th century, to serve as Almeida`s new main temple. This is because the original Mother Church ââ¬â which was located within the Castle grounds ââ¬â was destroyed during the Siege of Almeida, in 1810. The Monument to the Dead of the Great War honors the dead of the First World War.
