Pictured is detail of carved and painted wood in the interior of the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, Morocco. It was completed in 1993. It was designed by Michel Pinseau and built by Moroccan artisans from all over the kingdom. It is the second largest functioning mosque in Africa and the seventh largest in the world. Its minaret is the world`s second tallest at 210 meters. The roof is retractable and 25,000 worshippers can gather inside for prayer with space for another 80,000 on the outside ground.
