Annona is a class of blooming plants in the pawpaw/sugar apple family, Annonaceae. It is the second biggest class in the family after Guatteria, containing around 166 types of for the most part Neotropical and Afrotropical trees and bushes. The nonexclusive name gets from anón, a Hispaniolan TaÃÂno word for the natural product.
