Pigeon Island in Nilaveli beach
One of Sri Lanka'sÃÂ maritime national parks is Pigeon Island National Park. This island is situated in Eastern Province which is situated 1 km off the coast of Nilaveli beach. It has a total land size of 471.429 hectares. The rock pigeons that live there gave the island its name. Some of Sri Lanka's best and most intact coral reefs can be found in the national park.
