FingerLakes sunflower crop field in late NYS summer
Helianthus annuus NYS FingerLakes draws thousands of visitors each year to see the many immense acres of bright yellow sunflowers dot the landscape. Sunflower`s are heat tolerant, pest resistant and fast growing. Theyââ¬â¢re annual plants native to North America. They look like giant daisies, with bright yellow centers that ripen into a head filled with seeds. The bright yellow seed heads face the Eastern sky using heliotropism. Sunflowers can reach 14 feet in height.
