The house fly (Musca domestica) is a fly from the Cyclorrhapha suborder. Flies are believed to have evolved in the Cenozoic era, possibly in the Middle East, and to have spread throughout the world as a commensalistic species with humans. This species is the most common fly species found in homes. Adults are gray to black, with four long dark stripes on the chest, slightly hairy body, and a pair of webbed wings. Houseflies have widely spaced red eyes on slightly larger females.
