The Brazi Lake, called the Emerald Lake, was formed inside the former Brazi quarry, where basaltic rocks were once mined. Locals say that those who worked at the old quarry would have dug down to the water table and thus the basin would have filled with water. The color of the water and the high rocks that surround it make it unique. The color is due to the algae that populate it and differs depending on the season and the time of day when the sun is reflected in the water of the lake. Racos, Romania, Europe.
