Italian Lakes of Fusine from above Mangart saddle in Slovenia in Autumn

Laghi di Fusine (Fusine Lakes) are two lakes of glacial origin in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, very close to the borders of Austria and Slovenia. The two lakes are called Lago di Fusine Superiore (the higher lake) and Lago di Fusine Inferiore (the lower lake). The Fusine Lakes are a captivating sight because they are situated at the foot of the Mangart massif. Mangart is one of the most majestic mountains in the Julian Alps (Alpe Giulie) and forms part of the natural border between Italy and Slovenia. The colors of the lake’s water vary from sapphire to turquoise, clear and milky as the seasons and light change.
