Puna Falls, which has the height of about 100 meters, has its unique shape and incomparable beauty. This is located at a distance of 25 km from Nuwara-Eliya and recognized as the 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka. This waterfall is clearly visible on Peradeniya â Nuwara-Eliya Route between Pussellawa and Ramboda. Puna Falls is referred by several related names by the locals, such as Poonawa Ella, Pundalu Oya Ella or Ramboda Ella Falls by some. This waterfall is formed by two separate waterfalls â from the water of Puna Oya on the left and from the water of Pundalu Oya on the right. For this reason, sometimes these are recognized as two different waterfalls and referred as Puna Ella and Pundalu Oya Ella, respectively. However, these two merge together at the bottom before reaching the stream. Pandula Oya feeds more water to this waterfall throughout the year, although during the dry season the volume reduces. Said so, the beauty of Puna Falls can be enjoyed throughout the year as it never gets totally dried off.
