A few giant Snappers with a carapace of 1-2 feet in diameter live here. This is an old and well fed snapping turtle at Cornell Botanical Garden ponds. Common snapping turtles are omnivorous and sometimes bask by floating on the surface with only their algae covered carapaces exposed.
