The keris is a sharp weapon of the dagger class which has a variety of cultural functions which are known in the western and central parts of the archipelago. Their shape is distinctive and easy to distinguish from other sharp weapons because they are not symmetrical at the wide base, the blade is often serpentine, and many of them have pamor & x28;damascene& x29;, that is, visible streaks of bright metal coating on the blade.
